Living in Achrafieh, Beirut — A Guide for Students
What it's actually like to live in Achrafieh as a student — price range, walkability, nearest universities, and what to expect.
The vibe
Achrafieh is more upscale and residential than Hamra — tree-lined streets, a mix of older buildings and newer developments, and a genuinely quieter feel at night. It's also close to Gemmayzeh and Mar Mikhael's café and nightlife strip, so quiet doesn't mean isolated.
Price range and who it suits
Generally runs a bit higher than Hamra or Badaro for a comparable unit. It suits students who want a calmer living environment and don't mind paying slightly more for it, especially those studying at USJ nearby.
Nearest universities
USJ's main campuses are the closest — a short walk or quick taxi ride from most of Achrafieh.
