Hamra is Beirut's classic student neighborhood — dense, walkable, full of cafés, bookshops, and cheap eats, with a genuinely mixed crowd of AUB and LAU students, longtime residents, and everyone in between. It's busy and can be loud, especially on the main street, but that same density means almost everything you need is within a short walk.
2Price range and who it suits
Hamra sits in the middle of Beirut's price range — cheaper than being right on Bliss Street, more expensive than neighborhoods further from AUB/LAU. It suits students who want to be able to walk everywhere and don't mind city noise over a quieter, more residential feel.

AUB and LAU are both a short walk from most of Hamra — this is the single biggest reason it stays popular with students despite the noise.
